Additionally, the analysis of story elements is a significant part of really connecting with a text. As learners grow, analyzing story elements becomes more essential as their investigation and dissection of texts deepen. I decided to use a puzzle comparison to talk about story elements. Then, we move on to our anchor chart and interactive notebook entry so that we have some good notes to reference and we can anchor our learning. We talk about each of the story elements in the movies. Each group will focus on the story element. During this mini-lesson, students will learn about the story elements one at a time or all at once and then break into small groups after a read-aloud. This can help readers comprehend the depth of work that goes into crafting a story and provide multiple avenues for analysis.
